College Aid Seminar for DREAMers and DACA

Scholarship Sharing and Dreamers of Virginia will be hosting College Aid Seminars for Latino DREAMers and DACA students, and their families on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM (EDT), in Arlington, VA . The event will be targeted towards High School students, as well as currently enrolled undergraduates throughout Virginia and DC.

The English presentation will be from 3-6 pm, and the Spanish presentation will be from 6-9 pm.

The event will focus on highlighted topics such as:

–       Scholarships for Undocumented and DACA Students

–       Applying for In-State Tuition

–       Ways to lower on college costs

–       Answering questions of attending families

Fact vs. Fiction: Unmasking the Truth About Immigrants in Virginia’s Work Force

Entrepreneurs, investors, medical professionals, engineers,  permanent residents, productive seasonal and year-round employees…these are just a few of the many faces of Virginia’s immigrant population. Many are your friends, neighbors and co-workers. They go to your church. You see them in schools and in your civic clubs. Immigrants are a vibrant part of Virginia’s economic landscape but often suffer from common public  misconceptions.

Discover how Virginia benefits from these hard working people. Learn the facts. Hear their stories.

Come join us for refreshments and meet Jon Baselice, Director, Immigration Policy with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in DC who will talk about the current levels of immigration and how it might impact the future of the Commonwealth. You may be surprised at his findings. You’ll also hear stories from people who live and work in our community, but were born in another country. Question and answer period to follow.
